Well, I suppose I could start on day 13 or just do about 2 topics for the rest of the month and balance it out.
Day 1: Five ways to win my heart
This is a strange topic to me because it's not something I've really thought about. Hmm... I suppose if I am to compile a list it would look something like this:
1. Listen to sermons with me
2. Smile
3. Be able to fix stuff (Seriously though, I'm kind of not good at that)
4. Remember the little things
5. Pray with me
Day 2: Something you feel strongly about
At the moment I would have to say I feel very strongly about treating people with kindness and respect. This is most likely on my mind because there are many people I know who are being treated like Hebrew slaves for the sake of, "the ministry". I am a justice junkie as many have said and I don't understand why we must sacrifice kindness and consideration for the sake of the bottom dollar. I understand that just about everything comes down to the money but at what cost? When you have people who trust you and who love the Lord and want what His plan is for them and you continue to burn them out, it isn't going to do anything but leave a bad taste in their mouth and I'm pretty sure life does that job well enough all on its own. We need to always remember that no matter where someone is on the ladder, how long/short of a time they've been there or who they are, they are God's kids and they are our brothers and sisters in Christ and we need to know that we are held accountable to God for how we treat everyone who comes in our path.
Day 3: A book I love
Well, the first book that comes to mind is C.S. Lewis' series, "The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe." I am a self-proclaimed bookaholic and this book made such an impact on my life. It was the first book that got me into reading as a young child. The idea of talking animals, adventure and a whole new world that could be right around the corner through a closet was something I think I desperately needed at that time in my life. Home was rough and everything around me was crumbling but I could open up that book and be instantly transported to a whole new world and everything was right as rain. Even when struggles would happen in the book and the bad guys looked like they were going to win, I always held out this hope that no matter how dark the story was, there was light at the end of the tunnel. I believe that this hope I found in the story manifested over to my own life. I always knew that no matter how crappy life was looking I HAD to believe there was light at the end of the tunnel. That no matter what, I would always end up being ok. And you know what? With God, I have been.
